November Notes:
First off, to make up for last months screw up, I want to thank the Road House in West Point for hosting our membership drive and the painting of the leather jacket. Thanks also to Larry Schutt for obtaining the jacket for the raffle. Next a big thanks to Districts 4 & 15 for their participation, as only ten or so Dist. 5 members showed up, out of 190 invitations, we sent out. It would have been pretty lonely without you. Bas- Robert Trisdale won the jacket.
Last meeting was held at Rog & Sue’s in Craig. As I screwed up last month, we got meeting cards out finally. A big thanks to Coleen, my un-official secretary that actually does most of this. We had a great-so far-turn out. Thanks to Kenny and Jeff & Twila former Coordinator and Treasurer for your help. I need it. Rog & Sue’s signed up as a regular member but they’ve been a supporting business for many years. I told Rog if he sticks with us as a member we would still do meetings etc with them. Thanks Rog. I want to welcome a new member that signed up in Craig-Vern Livasy. We made tentative plans for our annual pool tournament-chili feed Sat Feb 7 and the Mother Run Sat May 9.
We went to Dist. 15 meeting and later Halloween party at Riley’s in Wayne Sat. Larry & Tammie Dickes, Dist 15s assistant coordinator and secretary respectfully, stayed in Wayne and rode to Craig with us. A good time was had.
Sid Lindstrom is having our annual Christmas party-chili feed. It is also to celebrate his ten year anniversary of conquering cancer. Sid is a long time member and friend. His party is on Sat. Dec. 6 at his farm (from junction of Hwy 77 & 32 south of Oakland 1 mile East 1 mile South and ¼ mile West on the right side of the road. Please R.S.V.P. Sid so he know how much to cook. A few years ago at Sid’s chili feed, Lance and I walked out to check something and saw the damdest sight. Something was flying well up and throwing off sparks, big ones, of different colors and generally burning up. This being not long after 9/11 we didn’t know what the hell to think. Turns out it was space junk burning up on re-entry. Just goes to show you how much fun you can have at Sid’s.
The dedicated crew from Dist. 15 did inquires to Legislative Dist. 17 contacting Garwood and Giese. They arranged lunch with Bob Giese as he answered he was interested in our goals. We put up signs etc and guess what? Bob won. With a lot more ads the apparent front runner lost. Bob won with a greater margin then we could effect. Bob and his wife attended Dist. 15’s Halloween party. They were great folks to meet. Bob gives me a good reason to stay a registered independent.
On financial opportunities now that the messiah has landed. I looked at the tanking stock market and low interest rates and decided to invest in “stock” in Springfield Armory. Looking at the future of freedom and constitutional government I consider this a very good addition to my future security. Stock up. The messiah may decide that we are under his divine protection and no longer need to defend ourselves.
Quiz questions:
Which of the candidates for president did the following:
While visiting his grandmother in Hawaii had his birth certificate sealed? And why?
Is signatory to a lawsuit files against a financial institution as a lawyer representing community organizers, that in effect forced that institution to issue loans to un-qualified borrowers.
Has as his economic advisor several folks that ran Fanny and Freddy into 700 billion of your children and grandchildren’s money, plus interest.
Is friends with folks that bomb buildings, curse America and are in prison for racketeering.
Now after the useful idiots in the alphabet soup press got this clueless buffoon elected they are starting to ask themselves who is he?
I take that back he’s not clueless-anyone who can become a millionaire by writing 2 memoirs before they’re 45, is either smart or a puppet. As he expresses no intelligence only scripted platitudes I vote puppet.
The messiah couple had to charter separate jets to visit the White House after the election because Mrs. Messiah wanted to check out private schools for their kids. After 50 years of effort by the teachers unions to dumb down the population to the point they fall for a complete phony, you would think the Messiahs would reward them with custody of their own young citizens of the new socialist utopia. I wonder how much the carbon footprint on chartering 2 100 plus passenger jets caused? I’m hoping it advanced global warming, I’ve been waiting a long time.
I had to hold my nose and vote for Juan McCain.
The Nov. state meeting went great, finances look good. The state officers are kicking butt to get us right with the world. We discussed doing a state function “party” this year. We need input from folks to find a location etc. Something I forgot to say was we might check with the owner of the quarry near Douglas, the Tribesmen had the Icaguchee park party there. It’s near Lincoln and I think the owner might be interested. We went to one of the parties there and it looked like a nice spot. Some folks from Eagle, NE that I talked to at Lake Perry clued me in.
See you Sat. Dec. 13 at the Road House in West Point.
Mike
A big thanks to Lyle, Fritz and the Roadhouse crew for sponsoring our membership drive party. Also a big thanks to District 4 & 15 for coming out!! Bass Trisdale won the leather jacket-Way to go Bass!!
DIST. 5 NEWS:
Hi
At the July meeting in Craig at the Library we had 6 members, 3 officers and 3 visitors from Dist. 15. Enough said.
The Rally on the River was great for the few of us that took time to attend. If you don’t support local events they won’t happen.
I assume everyone has gotten their “economic stimulus” check. Thank your kids and grandkids, that’s who the cowardly politicians stole this money from, plus interest. This is a bi partisan effort to buy your vote, go figure.
We need to find a membership secretary. Any salesmen or salesladies welcome to apply.
We need somebody to teach Gump a lesson, his head is getting too big.
Next meeting will be Dist.4 & 5 in Dodge at the Merry Martini Lounge 1 o’clock Sunday the 28th of Sept. We’re working on meeting cards. Bring a friend.
Ramblings from Mike Hammer
In ’92 we decided to quit the cluster f**k that Sturgis had become. Instead we decided to spend our time etc. going to local or ABATE functions in nearby states. Best thing we ever did. Thanks to everyone involved at Loop City. You folks put on a great event as usual. Your band kicked ass-pass it on. Another thanks to IA ABATE, every year we go to Algona I gain more respect for the work and dedication of the people involved. If you missed either you missed out.
If interested in the direction your ABATE of NE takes speak up. If your district seems stagnant, find out why. We have tens of thousands of potential members. Term limits, if we take the opportunity could be good for us. The July BOD meeting was very encouraging. Our new CEO, Todd Miller, has worked hard to get the lobbyist situation back on track. I’m very impressed with our new state officers. Without a good state organizations the districts are useless. This works both ways. We rode up to Dist. 15’s July meeting. They had 25 members in attendance. I invited all to Dist. 5’s July meeting. I hope 5’s members out number our neighbors. I’ll know by the time you read this.
Relaxing in camp at Algona an acquaintance asked me an unexpected question, What do I want out of life? The first thing that cleared the fog was I want my grandkids to live in a free country. My companion gave me an impossibly sober look and said, that’s a tall order.
August meeting in West Point at the Roadhouse at 1:00 See ya Mike Hammer
June 1st meeting we elected Mike Hammer to be our rep, with John Olsen helping him out as the second officer, Jessica Olsen will still be the district Treasurer.
Letter to the District from Mike:
I’m your new fearless leader not because I want to be. I live 90 miles from Blair, I took this job because if I didn’t Dist. 5 would fold.
First, wasn’t Randolph a Dist. 5 function? Thanks to a great bunch of folks from Dist. 15 and a few 5 members a nice party was put together. People showed up from David City. The weather was against us but that’s no excuse for poor attendance by both districts. John, Jessica and I will try to keep 5 rolling but we need help. John doesn’t need the load after years of health problems. I need someone that actually lives in Dist 5 or not, whatever. ABATE got kicked by the legislature by 2 votes. You don’t give up this close. New people are coming into the legislature. Now is not the time to quit. I saw a lot of folks at the pool tournament-chili feed where are you now? I joined ABATE because I was tired of totalitarian enactments, I still am. Next meeting Sunday July 20 at the Library in Craig.
Thanks Phil and Kim, you did a great job-my motion still stands. ABATE is one of the damn few organizations that exist to guard your rights. Think about that. Anyone having books-etc. that should be with Dist. Stuff let me know. I don’t even have a copy of by-laws.
Fearless Leader,
Mike Hammer

As you all know, this will be my last event as District 5 Rep. John Olsen will be your interim District rep. You can reach him at savagebeast28@msn.com. It’s been great being involved with ABATE and being your rep. for the past few years but it’s time for me to pass the responsibility on and be involved in the capacity that I feel works best with my schedule. RIDE SAFE!!!
May 3rd Meeting in Randolph:
Disappointing turnout for District 5 people. Only 2 of us attended.
Topics discussed were games, volunteering for the Memorial Day event. Lots of open spots available-please contact district 15 ASAP to volunteer! Ride routes, games ect.
Pre-event tickets for sale for $5 off the weekend price. Use the Contact Us on the website to reserve yours today. They are $20 single, and $30 couple(I think)-I will let you know for sure when you order.
Please contact Phil if you are wanting one of the 6 rooms reserved for our district for the event.
John Olsen won the 50/50 event which ended up being $66.00 after the local townspeople pitched in.
The April meeting was held at Rog N Sue’s in Craig, Ne.
Phil and Kim are both resigning as of June 1st. Anyone interested in taking over the Dist. Rep. or Secretary position, please contact me as soon as possible.
At the last BOD meeting, the decision was made to discontinue the PAC Fund. When you sign up a new member, scratch out the PAC Fund portion of the membership form. Alan Fosler (Pacman), will be leaving as of July. Pete from Dist 15 is also resigning.
The state can continue with no PAC Fund but we’re not seeing that now. The State is backing off of political issues and going more towards parties and charities. Questions concerning sanctioned events were brought up at the last BOD meeting.
Our districts Mother Run will be May 17th. The Freedom Rally Run with dist. 2 and 6 will be July 12th (date to be changed depending on availability of all districts). Both are sanctioned events and 50% will be donated to the State.
The combo party with Dist. 15 will be held on Memorial weekend. The planning meeting with dist 15 will be held at Mona’s on Saturday, May 3rd at 1 pm.
The combo party with dist 15 was discussed and we will not be donating 50% of our profits to the State. This issue was voted on by our district members and it was decided not to donate to the state due to the inactiveness of its non political stance/participation.
We discussed many stops for the combo run and decided the best “last” stop would be best at Yutan. We need to get a bigger facility for this but I will discuss this with the other districts involved.
Our proposed Mother Run will start at Ronnie’s in Tekamah, Little Jacks in Astana, Ia, Fat Boyz in Moorehead, Ia., Old Home in Pisgah, Ia., Sour Mash in Modale and end up at the VFW in Blair, Ne.
Rick Scott spoke about having every member show up at the July BOD meeting in Kearney to show their support or opposition to the current situation of ABATE.
We had a discussion of who needs rooms for the combo Memorial Weekend Bash.
Motion to close was made and seconded. Meeting adjourned.
Ride Safe!
